    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    The Director, Fare Revenue reports directly to the Executive Vice President; Chief Financial & Risk Officer (EVP/CFRO). This position provides leadership and direction with regards to fare strategy, fare policy, distribution systems, media type, cash collections, and enabling technology. The role will also have insights into auxiliary systems that are impacted by fare systems, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning system), data warehouse platforms, customer counting technology, and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems. This role is also responsible for the coordinating with Information Technology on the IT strategic roadmap and the advancements, replacements, and sunsetting of out-of-date payment systems to align with the overall Fare Strategy. The person in this role will be the business owner of the customer payment systems, and will represent Finance in each of these projects, in coordination with the project managers and product owners in IT assigned to the customer payment systems projects. 

     

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

    •   Supervise staff, including accountability for the Transit Store, which is CapMetro’s retail location, selling transit passes where front-line employees also support the unhoused transit pass program and the AMP program enrollment for customers who need live support for enrollment.
    •   As the Financial businessowner, provide leadership, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and oversight of all customer payment systems, across service type (Local, MetroRapid, MetroRail, MetroAccess, MetroBike, Pick-up, Commuter routes, and the future light rail service). 
    •   Coordinate with Government Affairs regarding changes to Fare Policy.
    •   Coordinate with Marketing & Communications (MarCom) on the strategy and timeline of implementing changes to customer fare programs, policies, and technologies.
    •   Serve as the point person regarding Project Connect and CapMetro’s public transportation expansion for customer fares, fare categories, media, and price points for each program and fare type.
    •   Collaborate with various business stakeholders to ensure their requirements are identified and included, provide leadership in best business practices, increase adoption and chair system user groups.
    •   Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) following implementation of new or evolving technologies, programs, price points, and categories.
    •   Conduct strategic planning for the transit systems’ future, which may include process improvements, upgrades, and developing ways to enhance and extend the benefits of the new customer payment systems and future programs.
    •   Provide day to day oversight for financial systems regarding fares and provide business systems analysis.
    •   Stay informed of technological trends and advancements, new products and technologies to meet business needs or to improve existing systems and customer experience.
    •   Direct and oversee all aspects of the customer payment projects, including needs analysis, and participation in procurement, implementation, operations, maintenance and future planning.
    •   Develop and communicate policies, procedures for fare collection and related activities, including business rules, departmental coordination, setup, monitoring and troubleshooting of the internal controls and reconciliation processes.
    •   Serve as chair of user groups for financial and payment systems.
    •   Provide direction and oversight of financial data for use in agency-wide reports, dashboards, and data warehouse.
    •   Approve plans for project implementation, resource management, risk management, quality management, scope management, communications management and budget management and success metrics.
    •   Provide an escalation path for project conflict resolution, as necessary.
    •   Build positive and constructive relationships with project and system stakeholders, by understanding their needs, problems, and providing timely communications. 
    •   Coordinate and/or provide staff training, manage employee relations and the workflow and prioritization of the projects. Implement or recommend development plans and corrective action if necessary.
    •   Manage project expenses and/or budgets related to the fare systems, programs, and policies.
    •   Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by ensuring staff follows safety and security policies, considers safety in every action, and ensures safety and security concerns are reported. 
    •   Perform other duties as required and/or assigned in support of the CapMetro Strategic Goals and the Vision, Mission, and Objectives aligned to these goals.

    RESPONSIBILITIES - SUPERVISOR AND/OR LEADERSHIP EXERCISED: 
    Direct and manage department personnel by planning, scheduling, delegating, and overseeing employee work assignments, authorizing, coordinating, and scheduling work with vendors and consultants, conducting personnel actions, including, hiring, and interviewing, and overseeing hiring, training, work assignments, and performance evaluations. 

     

    WHAT YOU BRING

    •   Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, Government Affairs, or related degree. Related experience will be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years.
    •   Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in Public Transit, Information Technology or Financial data supporting large or mid-size technology systems including four (4) years managing technology projects and technical and functional teams.
    •   Experience managing complex IT systems and implementation of back-office systems such as ERP or Financial Systems.
    •   Experience working with customer payment systems is preferred.
    •   Expert experience in using Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
